Grassroots Kava House St. Pete

SAVE THE DATE: 4/20, 3-5pm Grassroots Kava House strives to offer an inclusive environment for all. After hiring Gabe Wright, an incredible individual, we approached him to learn how Grassroots can be more inclusive with the Deaf community. Being Deaf himself, and fluent in American Sign Language, we asked him what the signs were for Kava and Kratom. We realized that not only were the words nonexistent in ASL, but also the benefits of Kava and Kratom were not widely known within the Deaf community as well. That said, Grassroots wants you to save the date for DEAF-initions: Kava & Kratom 101, an event for the Deaf community and beyond. Our goal is for Grassroots to become a Deaf-friendly space to hang out, drink a shell and connect with others! The event will have ASL interpretation available during a presentation from one of our owners, Kenn Hoyumpa. There will be free samples and giveaways, and together we will work to create signs for “Kava” and “Kratom” for everyone to use in the community and when ordering at Grassroots. The event is FREE – we just ask that each attendee purchase a minimum of one drink. Register to attend here!

Americana artist Megan Lea has found her niche with her honest, edgy take on traditional Southern music. Mo Safren, short for Morris, is a native of Culpeper, Virginia. He is a pianist and singer that has studied under some of the best teachers in the world at the Shenandoah Conservatory in Winchester, VA. Mo maintains a deep love and understanding of music, which keeps him passionate about all his musical endeavors. Mary Mac was born to be a vocalist.  She has words and a voice that can quiet a room. Her energy and love for her craft can be felt by any who have the pleasure of witnessing her perform. Together “Mo & Mary Mac” bring a loving energy to any room with their smooth harmonies, fun covers, and heart-warming original songs.  Their debut album “Wonderful Life” released on Feb 16th, 2024. Come check out the power duo!  

Cal Olivier is an American singer-songwriter, guitarist, and looper. His music is a fusion of roots, folk, and reggae. His songs range from spiritual to whimsical. Olivier also performs a variety of covers, all with done with a unique take. The Fickle Souls are a rotating collective of family and friends, who share a love for music and community. Over the years, Cal has shared the stage and studio with names such as Bela Fleck & the Flecktones, Tommy Tutone, Greg Hawkes (The Cars), Rehab, Steel Pulse, Keller Williams, John Paul White (The Civil Wars), along with many more.
