SAVE THE DATE: 4/20, 3-5pm
Grassroots Kava House strives to offer an inclusive environment for all. After hiring Gabe Wright, an incredible individual, we approached him to learn how Grassroots can be more inclusive with the Deaf community. Being Deaf himself, and fluent in American Sign Language, we asked him what the signs were for Kava and Kratom. We realized that not only were the words nonexistent in ASL, but also the benefits of Kava and Kratom were not widely known within the Deaf community as well.
That said, Grassroots wants you to save the date for DEAF-initions: Kava & Kratom 101, an event for the Deaf community and beyond. Our goal is for Grassroots to become a Deaf-friendly space to hang out, drink a shell and connect with others!
The event will have ASL interpretation available during a presentation from one of our owners, Kenn Hoyumpa. There will be free samples and giveaways, and together we will work to create signs for “Kava” and “Kratom” for everyone to use in the community and when ordering at Grassroots. The event is FREE – we just ask that each attendee purchase a minimum of one drink.
